While we are most known for our work as Team Nutritionists for the Chicago Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs, as well as other professional and elite athletes, we have a wide range of clients from busy parents to traveling executives.

Julie H. Burns, MS, RD, CCN – Founder of SportFuel, Inc.Julie H. Burns, MS, RD, CCN, is an integrative sports nutritionist, a licensed and registered dietitian, and a board certified clinical nutritionist. She is the Founder of SportFuel, Inc., an integrative sports nutrition and wellness consulting firm, and the Managing Member of Eat Like the Pros®, a customized local organic organic catering company.
Julie has provided team nutrition services to the Chicago Blackhawks for nearly 30 years, and works individually with athletes in the NFL, MLB, NBA and other elite sports teams.
Not all clients are athletes, as she works with everyone from high-level executives to busy parents. She has seen first-hand that a one-size-fits-all approach is ineffective, and has developed a highly personalized program using functional nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to help each client discover their maximum potential and performance, and to achieve optimal health.
Julie is a member of the American Nutrition Association (ANA), the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), the AND practice groups Dietitians in Functional Medicine (DIFM) and Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the Chicago, Illinois and West Suburban Dietetic Associations. She served three terms on SCAN’s Executive Board, was the Cardiovascular Editor for SCAN’s Pulse quarterly publication for 5 years, and served on the Gatorade Sport Science Institute’s Sports Nutrition Advisory Board from 1995-2003. Julie was in the first graduating class of the Kresser Institute’s ADAPT program in December, 2016.
To balance her passion for continued learning, Julie enjoys golfing, gardening, cooking, yoga, meditating, volunteering for charities and causes close to her heart, walking her sweet dog, and watching and attending all sports with her husband and young adult triplets!
Alexandria Cotie, RD – Senior Sports NutritionistAlex discovered Julie Burns and SportFuel, Inc. during her time at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and immediately knew that is where she needed to work. Following graduation in 2011, her internship with SportFuel turned to a job, and she has been continuously expanding her knowledge ever since.
Along with supporting the Chicago Blackhawks, Rockford IceHogs and her private clients, Alex is frequently asked to give presentations to groups including Nike, Jordan, elite hockey camps, athletic trainers, youth and high school teams, and she has also participated in various panel-setting talks to discuss real-food nutrition and performance.
Alex believes, and science supports, that great nutrition can have an astounding affect on an athletes’ strength, speed, mental clarity, reducing injury and their overall health and wellness. No matter how small of a change, and no matter if you are 8 or 80, Alex encourages you to start with something to better yourself.
In her free time, Alex enjoys all forms of fitness, spending time in nature, and fostering animals.
Juliette Britton, MS, RD – Integrative Family HealthJuliette specializes in family health and wellness. From pre-conception through adulthood, she crafts delicious and simple recipes along with client-centered wellness plans to help families optimize their health.
Juliette believes in a real-food, real-world approach. With two children and a very active lifestyle, she understands the demands and challenges of daily life. Prior to obtaining her masters in nutrition in 2012, Juliette spent 8 years in community health education, with an emphasis on preventing childhood obesity. She wrote meal plans for New York Times #1 best-selling author and celebrity trainer, Jim Karas, for his newest book, *The Ultimate Diet REVolution.* She now resides in the Denver area and can be spotted at farmer’s markets crafting up new recipes, teaching classes on picky eating, or providing workshops on fertility and prenatal nutrition. When not playing in the kitchen, you can find her hiking, skiing, swimming, and of course, eating delicious real food!
