1. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.
Staying hydrated is essential.
A simple tip—divide your weight (in pounds) in half. The answer is the number of fluid ounces you need in a day to stay hydrated. Increasing fluids and Vit C in your diet helps stimulate bowel function so your body can get rid of waste and keep your system clean and healthy. Add slices of orange or grapefruit with fresh rosemary for a flavor-infused treat!
2. Premium Fuel: Eat Premium Fuel, as Nature Intended.
Focus on getting your nutrients from real, whole foods in the form of properly raised/sourced animal proteins, healthy and healing fats, colorful raw and cooked starchy and non-starchy vegetables, fermented foods, and bone broth/stock. These foods will improve your digestion, energy, focus, immunity, mood, recovery, overall health, and ultimately, your performance.
3. Minimize Refined Foods, Sugar, and Alcohol
Focus on eating unprocessed or whole foods to promote a healthy gut and immune system. Limit added sugar from desserts, sodas, and other sugar-sweetened items. Minimize or avoid alcohol, especially those with high sugar content such as wine, daiquiris, and rum-based drinks.
4. Stay Active
Participate in regular physical activity. Even if you are unable to go to your workout class, there are plenty of ways to stay active during this time. Check out YouTube for at-home workouts, take a run or walk outdoors, go for a hike, or get creative! And please remember to follow your town, city, state, and federal recommendations regarding social distancing and stay-at-home orders as we begin to enter different phases of businesses reopening.
5. Practice Yoga and Meditation
6. Drink Kombucha
There is nothing like a fizzy batch of fruity fermented microbes to create a happy place in your digestive tract! We know this might sound a little strange, but kombucha is a natural probiotic, which contributes to a healthy gut. A healthy gut means a more productive day, with a more balanced mood and increased energy levels. If you’re not a fan of kombucha, try other fermented foods such as raw/fermented pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi, or kefir.
7. Find Joy and Gratitude in Everyday Moments.
